Philadelphia Textiles: Germantown Eyedazzler

The Germantown Eyedazzler style of Navaho rugs is a remarkable little-known story of Philadelphia's world-renowned Germantown yarn and its role in sparking two revolutions in Navajo weaving and design: one in the 19th century and one underway today. Southwestern and Native American art expert Linda Kowall Woal will discuss the history of these two revolutions – how materials and economic conditions influenced weaving styles – and the fascinating personal stories behind those revolutions.
