Will the genetic revolution be to the 21st century what physics
was to the 20th? Noted bioethicist Arthur Caplan and
geneticist Stephen Eck discuss the new realities of genetic
testing, gene therapy, and genetic engineering as scientists map
the human genome and begin to control the mysteries of
heredity. Will eugenics dominate our future? Will reductionism
shape our images of who we are and what we can become?

Arthur L. Caplan is Trustee Professor of Bioethics, Director,
Penn's Center for Bioethics
, and Chief of Bioethics, University
of Pennsylvania Health System.

Stephen Eck is Ann B. Young Assistant Professor of Medicine
and Co-Director, Cancer Gene Therapy Programs of the
Institute for Human Gene Therapy
, UPHS.
