Graduate Humanities Forum
Mellon Research Fellowships

Call for Applications, 2012–2013 (Closed)
Topic: Peripheries

Application Deadline: Thursday, March 1, 2012

The Penn Humanities Forum announces ten Mellon Research Fellowships of $1000 each, designed to encourage humanistic inquiry and exchange. Applications are invited from Penn graduate and professional students in all humanities-related areas who are pursuing research related to the Forum’s 2012–2013 theme, Peripheries.

At biweekly meetings of the Graduate Humanities Forum (GHF) during the year, Fellows present their own research, respond to the work of their peers, and discuss shared readings. The year's work culminates in the annual GHF international spring conference, which fellows organize and run, together with PHF's Graduate Research Assistant, and GHF Faculty Advisor.

Fellowships are awarded competitively.

TO APPLY, students should submit the following:
Cover letter expressing interest in the fellowship.
Curriculum vitae and Penn course transcript (scan of unofficial transcript is fine)

Project title, 125-word (max.) abstract, and proposal (500 words) describing the research to be carried out during the course of the year and its relation to Peripheries, the Forum's 2012-2013 theme.

One confidential letter of recommendation from either your dissertation director or your graduate chair. Referee should email the letter directly to Jennifer Conway no later than March 1, 2012.

Please email all application materials to Jennifer Conway, Associate Director, Penn Humanities Forum.

Calls for applications are posted each year in early November and close on March 1st (11:59pm EST). Full fellowship guidelines and application are available on the Forum's website during each Call for Applications cycle
