NEXT YEAR AT THE PENN HUMANITIES FORUM Connections, 2009–2010
The notion of “network” is key to modern life. Suddenly, words beginning with inter- carry special cachet. The world has never felt so small, so dense with interrelations, interdependencies, and other interconnections. Even six degrees of separation seems intolerably remote. The central task of 21st-century education and culture is to help us adjust to this new reality, to transform us from individuals or nationals to citoyens sans frontičres. Join us next year as the Penn Humanities Forum on Connections embraces this future and considers its sources from the past.
